Lucas House Diary: May 24, 2025

The garden is slowly….very slowly… becoming a garden. That’s because the perennials, grasses and sedges are starting to grow.

Long-lost friends, buried deep underground all winter, are showing green again. And the good news is, a lot of the plants are bigger and more vigorous than last year- as I’d expect with the garden entering year three.

New shoots this week include Swamp Milkweed and some green leaves on the Little Bluestem (as a warm-season grass, it doesn’t get going until the temperatures warm up.)
